Teachers File FEC Complaint against NEA for Illegal PAC Money Laundering Scheme
Sworn testimony indicates union officials misled educators, diverted union treasury funds into political committee
Washington, DC (January 13, 2009) – The National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation announced today it will file a formal complaint with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) asking it to investigate charges made by two Alabama educators who discovered a union scheme to divert their money into the National Education Association’s (NEA) political action committee (PAC).
Claire Waites, the chair of the science department, and Dr. Jeanne Fox, an assistant principal, both work at Daphne Middle School in Bay Minette, Alabama. Waites and Fox are both members of the Baldwin County Education Association (BCEA), Alabama Education Association (AEA), and NEA teacher unions.
In July 2008, Waites and Fox attended the NEA’s annual convention in Washington, DC, as delegates of the BCEA. By telephone, BCEA union president Saadia Hunter informed Waites and Fox that contributions to a “children’s fund” in their names were made from money included in their expense reimbursements for their trip to the convention.
Although Hunter told Waites that these contributions were not political in nature, they actually went to the NEA’s PAC, the NEA Fund for Children and Public Education.
Later, Hunter admitted that the money would be contributed to Barack Obama’s presidential campaign. Sworn statements by Waites and Fox indicate that the AEA union boss also admitted that the PAC contributions were paid with BCEA members’ dues. However, it is illegal for unions to contribute to political candidates using “dues, fees, or other moneys required as a condition of membership in a labor organization.”
Teacher union officials also violated federal law by encouraging and soliciting contributions under false pretenses and without informing Waites or Fox of their right to refuse to contribute without any reprisal. Federal law also forbids campaign contributions made in the name of another person.
“This union money laundering scheme makes a mockery of federal election law,” said Stefan Gleason, vice president of the National Right to Work Foundation, which has joined Waites and Fox as a complainant. “We suspect this scheme was widely used by the NEA union hierarchy and could involve hundreds of thousands of dollars. We urge the FEC to take decisive action.”

This is to me just another of the rules that Obami, and his cronies have broken, and the bad thing is we can't do a damn thing about it. We can't even make him to show a valid birth certificate or his thesis, or even a deploma, or passport. So we just take a lump. I have thought about this mess for hours and the only thing I can come up with is, that the powers to be are so scared to force him out, or impeach him, for fear of a civil war. I have never in my 65 years ever heard of so much negativety concerning a president.
Election monies
I have said all along that there needs to be a complete, public advised audit of the funds that were raised during this campaign. There were millions of dollars allegedly donated toward the democratic candidate with no idea as to where it all came from. It is becoming obvious with such articles as this that not all is legally donated. Secondly, if media stations remain bias toward political parties we have the right (thus far) to change the station and write in to them and complain. Before we lose the freedom of speech we better use it for what it is meant for. I am reminded of a Bible verse (that book that this great nation was founded) "Be sure your sins will find you out." I am a conservative and only the "rightly" elected official should be in office. However, if how he got there or how he/she leads this nation is found to be degrading to this nation then lets impeach and start over...God Bless our nation and open our eyes to those things that are wrong HERE AT HOME!
NEA misappropriating members dues to political campaign
I believe that members of the NEA in many jurisdictions in this country have been illegally transferring teacher dues funds to Democratic campaigns for several years unbeknownst to the dues paying teachers who they represent. These union operatives are arrogant enough to think that it is their money to do with as they please. If found guilty they should be sentenced to the fullest extent of the law and be barred for their remaining lifetimes from ever being able to occupy any position in any union in this country.

Sounds like another Acorn scheme. People and organizations that are dishonest, promoting someone or something that has little or no benefit for the American people. They should be totally investigated and then if found guilty given a severe penalty and imprisonment if deemed necessary.
Corruption
It seems like every day there is more and more corruption that comes to the surface - but mainstream media obviosly has no interest in alerting Americans about any of it. Older folks who don't own computers don't have a chance of finding out anything very easily unless they have children who are watching out for them. The corruption just gets swept under the rug, while Obama just goes on telling the lies, smiling and laughing all the way to the bank - which he now owns - putting all his buddies in key positions to fleece more money from us. We can not stop with the pressure.

I agree with you. My parents think that Obama is the new Messiah...they think I am over reacting when I try to tell them what is really going on. They have four basic channels, no computer. They feel the republicans are rude and just trying to condemn a man who is trying to bring wonderful change to the country. So how come these senators are NOT in JAIL? Why aren’t they in jail for not paying their taxes? Why aren’t they in Jail for FORCING these banks to make these BAD loans? Doesn't this sound like MAJOR CORRUPTION to anyone- other than me? How come this was never investigated by the FBI or ANY district of attorney’s offices? Or was it and then was it swept under the carpet?

I do believe these major items are being swept under the carpet because too many Americans either don't have access to 'real' news, are too busy living their lives to be aware, or because they are part of the problem.
I believe that if the 2010 elections were held today, most of our elected officials would find themselves out of a job!
They have forgotten that they work for us, not the other way around. The things that are happening, from Obama's refusal to show us his ceritified birth certificate (not to mention his school records, medical records, ad infinitum) are just one symptom of the real disease--massive corruptions in the hallowed halls of congress and the office of the president.
I am worried that if something doesn't happen soon to put a stop to the horrible things they are doing and trying to do, America as we know and love it will cease to exist.
What can we do? Call your congressmen, your senators and the president, write, fax, whatever you have to do to get through, and tell them "no more. what you are doing isn't even constiutional, and eventually you will be stopped, one way or another.

I would like to add that if we remember right and kept up with the donations obama was getting there were MANY that were given by cartoon characters and such. Why was this allowed? How can anyone know where these funds came from if the people are "hiding" behind false fronts? This whole election was a fraud and so isnt obama.

Is this for real? Give details that allow tracking and confirmation. Is Obama's administration quashing this? I think the question is valid, for this kind of activitiy was done by ACORN on behalf of Obama and *was* quashed within the FBI, presumably at the 'indirect' (i.e. plausibly deniable) behest of Mr Zero. Get the details out there, man. That is the only thing that will sink this stinking corruption!
No Surprise
This isn't a surprise. This whole election was a set up from the get go. Democratic congressmen and senators set the economy up for a fall just before the election, so why wouldn't the NEA leadership be complicit? Somebody had to pay for the NEA for Obama signs I saw all over my district.

I ran for the office of State Representative in Connecticut in the 80's and the Unions poured financial resources and human resources into my opponent's campaign.
I introduce a bill which would probit this practice and, of course, the bill went nowhere--I was told that it could not be done.
Please advise.

i paid into this fund [ nea ] for 28yr. i am surprised at teachers supporting obams's campaign, he's buying everything in site now does he have the teachers too. just look at what fox news has uncovered just this last 2wks that some teachers are having our kids singing & learning enough please help stop this control.
Illegal activities by congress - being swept under the rug
Seems to me the best thing we can do is vote out everybody in congress. Democrats and Republicans - get them out. Put in someone new - anyone other than who is in there now. The people who are in there now are responsible for the situation we are in now.
If you want to take care of more business while you're at it - swap out a Democrat for a Republican so we can halt this progressive socialism being shoved down our throats, - but whether you believe that or not - it doesnt matter.
It will never happen that we get to the bottom of all these situations to try to find fault - but if we vote their butts out of office - at least the next round of politicians will know who is the boss..

As an elderly Texan I am unable to do much financially to help get these criminals out but I do everything I am able to do to get the word out to everyone I know and I keep reminding my neighbors who voted for this man just what is the change..that we are going to be a lot worse off than before.
