{"id":533,"date":"2009-06-11T16:38:44","date_gmt":"2009-06-11T16:38:44","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2016-08-09T18:13:33","modified_gmt":"2016-08-09T18:13:33","slug":"does-obama-s-ethics-policy-apply-to-labor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nrtw.org\/es\/blog\/does-obama-s-ethics-policy-apply-to-labor\/","title":{"rendered":"Does Obama&#8217;s Ethics Policy Apply to Labor?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n<i>Freedom@Work<\/i> readers are aware that President Barack Obama has routinely paid back the one billion dollar debt he and other forced unionism proponents owe to union bosses for their record political spending spree in the 2008 election cycle.\u00a0 From <a href=\"\/en\/blog\/obama-blacklist-01302109\">blacklisting<\/a> workers who exercise their right to refrain from union membership to <a href=\"\/en\/blog\/obama-administration-poised-02252009\">rolling back<\/a> union boss disclosure requirements, Obama has gladly used his executive power to return the favor.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>\nAs reported previously, several high-profile Obama nominees to key positions with the Department of Labor and National Labor Relations Board are longtime Big Labor lobbyists and compulsory unionism hardliners, most notably Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis (who was <a href=\"\/en\/blog\/soliss-illicit-lobbying-02032009\">treasurer<\/a> of the Big Labor lobby American Rights at Work while serving as a member of Congress) and NLRB member-nominee Craig Becker (whose views on union organizing are <a href=\"\/en\/blog\/obama-nlrb-05202109\">radical<\/a> even by Big Labor&#8217;s standards).\n<\/p>\n<p>\nConveniently, and without irony, the AFL-CIO&#8217;s blog features an <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.aflcio.org\/2009\/06\/09\/ifpte-counsel-and-former-afl-cio-staff-nominated-to-labor-relations-authority\/\">extensive list<\/a> of other union bigwigs Obama has named to key labor positions, including:\n<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\n\tJulia Clark, general counsel for the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers (IFPTE), and Ernie DuBester, a former AFL-CIO Legislative Affairs staff member, were nominated by President Obama last week to serve on the Federal Labor Relations Authority (FLRA)\u2014the federal workers\u2019 version of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&#8230;\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\tRon Bloom, United Steelworkers\u2019 (USW\u2019s) director of corporate research, was appointed senior adviser on the auto bailout team.\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&#8230;\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\n\tMary Beth Maxwell, the former executive director of American Rights at Work,\u00a0was appointed senior adviser to Solis at the Labor Department.
