Unions
In 1955 I was a Forman at the textile entity in New Milford Ct. It was the largest employer at that time in N M. Some folks were confronted by a union United Textile and they fought to unionize the factory. With all the propaganda and lies they won. But less then 6 months they forced the factory to close. Many people knew any other occupation and few found jobs right away. Lucky and I was young and found work right away and I was also offered employment at another textile plant in Derby Ct., Because I stood firm with the owners and was against the union. Since then I have witnessed several businesses that were force to close due to the infiltration of the unions.
Then in 1958 I moved to California and took employment with P.I.E., Pacific Mountain Express a National trucking company. I started as a yard jockey then due to a shortage of long distant drivers I was placed on the road. My trip took me from the L A area then to Seattle. It was a thousand mile trip so I kept 3 logs. One for every state I drove through. I would make at least 2 round trips a week and the company loved me. They would pay for my fines when I was cited with an infraction. But once again the union called a 13 state strike and I lost my job again. So I will never go where there is a union. Twice was enough. Al
