Unions

To Jim Demint:
Yes, I believe that unions are destroying this country especially in the education field because salaries are much much too high for the amount of time that teachers actally teach. Yet, I work in a school system and am turning 65 next month. My boss who is personnel administrator and her asst. have been tring to have me terminated since I was hired as her secretary 4 yrs. ago. She would not allow me to be with my daughter when my daughter had an at risk pregnancy and needed an emergency surgery even though for months I had kept my boss informed and wanted to use my vacation days. My boss has denied my taking computer corses given by the district, has kept me from a secretarial bridge program even though I was the only secretary who had applied for the position--she hired a bus driver to do the secretarial bridge program, has screamed at me in front of coworkers and the public and it goes on and on. Everytime I try to discuss something with her she tells me to find a new job!! Although, my job has just been put in as a 12 mth. secretarial job instead of the 10 mth that it was and I'm happy about that. So, you see, if you do not address protecting a secretarial worker who's pay is low, we are afraid to sign a petition.
