Proper Training & Job Security: A Union Promise?

I can see that a lot of the on-the-job stresses are caused by the constantly changing "on the fly" rules and requirements, and the company's expectations that you "adapt to change" --- or else. But where was the Union when you were forced to do your job without being properly trained? What did the Union do about ensuring that bargained employees were properly trained for their jobs? Isn't that something that the Union guarantees?

Where was the Union when the Attendence Policies changed? What did the Union do about those changes? Does the Union include any information about the new stricter Attendence Policies in their contract? Or, did they just conveniently omit it from both their negotiations and their contract?

Where was the Union when the call monitoring Quality requirements became stricter, and nearly impossible to pass? What did the Union do about that?

Where was the Union when entire departments were outsourced to foreign countries by AT&T? What did the Union do about that?

Where was the Union when nearly 80% of certain department's employees were transferred to other departments---without being properly trained for those jobs? What did the Union do about that?

Also, on your medical, dental, and prescription cards, does it say: "CWA"? Look again: it says: "AT&T". There are plenty of Unions that really DO provide benefits to their members, but not in this case! It's MaBell that's paying your medical benefits---not your Union! Oh, shouldn't your dues be cheaper than somebody who has Union-paid Medical Benefits? And why are those who have real Union Medical Benefits paying a "fixed" rather than a "percentage" dues structure? What are you really paying for?

Everybody complains about the cruel and unusual working conditions at AT&T, yet they continue to support their Unions. The same whiners admit that, "before the Unions came in, conditions were better". How can they continue to have such blind faith in powerless Unions? Working conditions continue to deteriorate in a Union represented workplace. How are you better off by having Unions?
