Pamela, Owen and CJ:

I need to ask the three of you to make one or more phone calls on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday of next week (8/18-20) that are required under a settlement agreement we entered into with a former member, Denis Clark. Ali and I talked with Tim about making these calls, but in talking to Tim today we concluded that the calls would be less awkward, and hopefully more natural, coming from reps who deal with the employers in question.

The employers are:

• Home Care for Maine and Alpha One (Owen) -- the logical contact at HC4M is Mollie Baldwin, 582-8001; and at Alpha One it's Jay Hardy, 233-8961(cell), or 800-640-7200 (Jay is a consultant to Alpha One, and should definitely be contacted, but you should ask him whether it would also be appropriate to contact the Executive Director, Dennis Fitzgibbons, as that might be politically necessary; I don't have that number, unless he's at the 800 number above - Missy may know, or be able to look it up)

• Green Valley Association and Treats Falls (CJ) -- the logical contact at GVA is Eric Quint, 463-2156; at Treats it's Catherine Robertson, 866-3769

• Department of Conservation (Pamela) (although other reps handle Conservation as well, Pamela has the central offices) -- the logical contact is Deb Phillips, 287-4925

The settlement agreement commits us to making calls to specified employers "recommending that those employers strongly consider Clark for employment". Without mentioning a settlement agreement, please introduce yourself if you haven't yet met, and say that we have a former member who's seeking employment and has done work of the type offered by this employer (Clark has done personal care/home care work, and is a Maine Guide), we were wondering if this employer has any openings, and if Clark applies we recommend that the employer strongly consider him.

If you have questions about this, you can talk to Ali, who has a copy of the S/A. I'm sorry to have this land on your lap on a last minute basis. These calls were supposed to have been made by today, and after talking with Tim I got dispensation from Clark's attorney to do them early next week. I would have made the calls myself, or asked Ali to, but I thought it would seem really weird to the employers if a Union attorney was making these calls.

FYI - we don't have any expectation that Clark will get a job as a result of these calls.

Thanks for your help. I know you didn't need this.
