Sounds OK to me. It's a

Sounds OK to me.
It's a shame the US has forgotten we chose the path of Right-to-Work when Europe did not. We are still the most successful country (even in today's economy) because of that choice.

Union's had value pushing a 40 hr work week and supporting site safety and other social issues that have become mainstream. Today the union leaders suck the life out of their members and the right-to-work right off the table!

Why don't they use the dues to offer their members insurance rather than have other consumers pay for it? (Cost passes through the company to the consumer.) Why don't they give their members skill classes using those dues? Why don't they advertise the quality of their members work? Why don't US unions promote US workers? Unions have become the supporters of "scabs" and their leaders have become "kings" in this topsy-turvey world.

Unions

Unions are also keeping everybody's wages up. without unions you would get less pay, worse working conditions. The IBEW local 26 has skill classes for its members. You can argue both ways, but I have my Pension still (one of the strongest in the nation), and my annuity, my health and welfare benefits (Dr, Dentist, vision), and Excellent hourly pay.

At the taxpayer's expense...no wonder California and other states are so bankrupt.

noise/music?

Too much background noise in the video. PJTV is not very professional when it comes to their microphones and A/V editors.

Give me a break!! The

Give me a break!! The background noise is too loud. Are you deaf! It's what he is talking about that's of most importance. If you are really concerned about what he's saying then turn up the volume!
Unbelievable

what's with the music, you

what's with the music, you can't hear the dialogue? How bizarre is that.

What music?

What music? I don't hear any music except before and after the interview. Turn down your Ipod

Music? No music on my end.

Music? No music on my end. You must have another site open with music.

AFL-CIO

In our country of Sarasota FL the fireman are AFL-CIO. When my family found out we withdrew any contributions we used to donate every year, althouth we respect the fire department we will not give money to a union that is corrupt (AFF-CIO) and is no better than organized crime. PS I really don't care if the white house gets this message.

Union thugs

i too have quit giving to firefighters due to their union affiliation, it is a shame as they have a boot campaign where they gather money, supposedly for muscualar dystrophy but my trust level is not high due to the union label as they "allocate" funds to canidates of THEIR CHOICE not yours as a union member

Twisted principles

Try getting your head out of your rear, I mean stop watching FOX and read a little about history or something. Not contributing to you local Fire Dept. is like cutting off you nose...

Civicly stupid and pretty disgraceful attitude on your part.

Support your local Fire Dept.!

BTW:

I didn't know Sarasota left the Union of these United States.

AFL-CIO and all Unions

Keep up the good work. The unions own Obama and will lead to the downfall of America if we don't take some drastic Action!!!

AFL-CIO

Good for you Thomas, wish we had more patriots like you and your family that would stand on principles instead of convenience of self-interest!

UNIONS

Where does Mark Mix think the Union headquarters should be? Does he think they should operate out of a cardboard box? He is standing there implying that a disclosure that isn't even to be reported until 2012 may be suspicious. Look online the Unions have all kids of disclosures that they have put online for all to see. What he is not mentioning is non-union employers who use union busters and who use tactics to intimidate and harass their workers even to the point of firing them for trying to organize. This is a form of employee and economic terrorism. The Union gives workers a voice at the table and works to provide the best set of working standards in the workplace. I guess he would rather have "scabs" replace union workers.
"Organized labor believes that right-to-work laws allow free riders at the expense of their fellow workers. Opponents of these laws argue that everyone should pay a proportionate share of the costs of the union in negotiating contract benefits that will go to all. Unions also maintain that the real objective of right-to-work laws is to sow dissension among workers and thus weaken the labor movement." (Union) This statement is correct from the Union, all Mr. Mix wants to do is cause dissension with those who protect American jobs. The Union works for the benefit of all. Mr. Mix is worried about what the CEO's make and states in the video that they make more than the employees doesn't he make more than alot of people he represents? President Obama ran on a Union platform and made promises to the American worker. All the Union is doing is holding him to those promises.

Unions and their ways

CottonE-Try telling all this crap to my son, a 17 year veteran of UPS and paying dues, when he was diagnosed with cancer a year ago.
He had so many problems getting his disability it wasn't funny. Finally, one of the retired members of UPS went to the headquarters in Raleigh, N.C. and worked for my son, who was still in hospital, to get his benefits started. Now my son has a wife and 2 small boys and he has been an exemplary employee for UPS and this is the treatment he got. Later, when he was nearing the end of disability, he was forced to go to Social Security to see if they would give him disability. If he didn't do this, the union would have cut off his funds...I was married to a man from GE who tried to start unions there in the 70's and I remember the total fiasco that was-people didn't want the union and they were harrassed and threatened too. It used to be a wonderful thing and it helped workers all over the country-now it's run by a bunch of thugs, listening to the president of the NEA and he said we just want to make we get paid-our objective is not on education...how's that for the poorest of unions because we have sorry teachers we can't get rid of no matter what. A recent incident was a teacher (female) caught with a 15 year old in her car have sexual relations and she had been let go from 2 other jobs with a stellar reference so she was hired here...I don't call this fair or right...Unions have outlived their good and very few of them really do what's right for their members. Watch the health care issue-this stands to save them piles of money if passed and their members out there protesting don't even know what's coming for them...I bet the CEO's keep their coverage, the congress has already said that-Sen. Baucas said unions and congress would be exempt from taxes and will keep their insurance.

Barbara Davis,

Bravo, Barbara Davis, very well and accurately stated! There was a time when unions served good and helped people, and now most are unethical...able to hide their messy and compromising activities, and on our backs.
I am a nurse, and am forced to pay union dues that don't even go only toward nursing, but to other agendas I don't agree with or support.

Unions sucks and so does your response

Unions protect American jobs in much the same way the KGB protected the lives of Soviet citizens. Listen you non-thinking, fully propagandized Union flack, if your so concerned about the so-called "free rider" principle then its time for you Bolshevik thugs to stop acting like you have the right to represent all workers whether they want it or not and embrace the legal concept of the members-only contract. That way the unions might actually have something to offer employees who would then might want to join your organization on their own free will. You wouldn't have to force people against their will to join your criminal organization like Islamic fascists do in the Middle East.

When the unions denounce compulsory unionism, stop forcing their members to support far-left Democrat political candidates whether they like it or not, stop acting like their entitled to their job but instead work to promote their industry and become pro-business instead of pro-socialist then I will have no problems with unions. Until then, its time those criminal, socialist organizations.
