Foundation President Mark Mix appeared on Fox Business's "Varney and Company" to discuss the SEIU's shady political fundraising practices:
For more on this issue, check out Mix's recent op-ed in The Washington Examiner:
Imagine the outcry if McDonalds executives demanded that franchise owners collect “voluntary” contributions totaling $25,000 for the company’s Political Action Committee (PAC) from employees at every restaurant.
What if the fast food titan’s headquarters followed up with a threat - pay us, or face a $37,500 fine? Do you think this heavy-handed scheme would raise a few eyebrows at the Federal Election Commission (FEC)?
Replace “McDonalds” with “SEIU” in that description and you’ve got a pretty good idea of Big Labor’s latest political fundraising strategy. To meet their ambitious fundraising targets, Service Employees International Union bosses are now threatening to fine any local affiliate that doesn’t meet its PAC contribution requirements.
The only problem with this racket is that FEC guidelines explicitly prohibit organizations from collecting PAC funds by threatening members with financial reprisals . . .

Barack Hussein is a radical
Barack Hussein is a radical madman and must be stopped. I hope enough voters realize that the Democrat majorities in the House and Senate must be eliminated come Novemeber to help stop this insanity. History has shown that those wishing to develope a communist, solialists or marxist government begin by strengthing fringe support groups and installing other like-thinking radicals in high positions. THIS WAS THE CHANGE WE VOTED FOR!! STRAIGHT OUT OF THE CHICAGO POLITICAL DOGMA. HOW DO YOU LIKE THE CHANGE NOW?
Chrysler - A Very Dirty Story
For those of you who believe in coincidences, you'll find this amazing! For the more pragmatic, you'll find it sickening.
Very Interesting……………….
Sooner or later it will all come to light!
This could be a scandal of epic proportions and one that makes Nixon's
Watergate or Clinton 's Monica Lewinsky affair pale by comparison. Why
was there neither rhyme nor reason as to which dealerships of the
Chrysler Corporation were to be closed?
Roll the clock back to the weeks just before Chrysler declared
bankruptcy. Chrysler, like GM, was in dire financial straits and
federal government "graciously" offered to "buy the company" and keep
them out of bankruptcy and "save jobs."
Chrysler was, in the words of Obama and his administration, "Too big
to fail," same story with GM.
The feds organized their "Automotive Task Force" to fix Chrysler and
GM. Obama, in an act that is 100% unconstitutional, appointed a guy
named Steve Rattner to be the White House's official Car Czar -
literally, that's what his title is.
Rattner is the liaison between Obama, Chrysler, and GM.
Initially, the national media reported that Chrysler 'had made this
list of dealerships'. Not true!
The Washington Examiner, Newsmax, Fox News and a host of other news
agencies discovered that the list of dealerships was put together by
the "Automotive Task Force" headed by no one other than Mr. Steve
Rattner.
Now the plot thickens.
Remember earlier we said that there was neither rhyme nor reason why
certain dealerships were closed?
Actually there's a very interesting pattern as to who was closed down.
Again, on May 27, 2009, The Washington Examiner and Newsmax exposed
the connection.
Amazingly, of the 789 dealerships closed by the federal government,
788 had donated money, exclusively to Republican political causes,
while contributing nothing to Democratic political causes. The only
"Democratic" dealership on the list was found to have donated $7,700
to Hillary's campaign, and a bit over $2,000 to John Edwards. This
same dealership, reportedly, also gave $200.00 to Obama's campaign.
Does that seem a little odd to you?
Steve Rattner is the guy who put the list together. Well, he happens
to be married to a Maureen White. Maureen happens to be the former
national finance chairman of the Democratic National Committee. As
such, she has access to campaign donation records from everyone in the
nation- Republican or Democrat. But of course, this is just a wacky
"coincidence," we're certain.
Then comes another really wacky "coincidence."
On that list of dealerships being closed down, a weird thing happened
in Arkansas , North Louisiana, and Southern Missouri . It seems that
Bill Clinton's former White House Chief of Staff, Mack McClarty, owns
a chain of dealership in that region, partnered with a fellow by the
name of Robert Johnson.
Johnson happens to be founder of Black Entertainment Television and
was a huge Obama supporter and financier.
These guys own a half dozen Chrysler stores under the company title of
RLJ-McClarty-Landers. Interestingly, none of their dealerships were
ordered closed - not one!
While all of their competing Chrysler/Dodge and Jeep dealership were!
Eight dealerships located near the dealerships owned by McClarty and
Johnson were ordered shut down. Thus by pure luck, these two major
Obama supporters now have virtual monopoly on Chrysler sales in their
zone.
Isn't that amazing?
Go look in The Washington Examiner, the story's there, and it's in a
dozen or so other web-based news organizations; this isn't being made
up.
Now if you thought Chrysler was owned by Fiat, you are mistaken. Under
the federal court ruling, 65% of Chrysler is now owned by the federal
government and the United Auto Workers union!
Fiat owns 20%.
The other 15% is still privately owned and presumably will be traded
on the stock market. Obama smiles and says he doesn't want to run the
auto industry.
As horrifying as this is to comprehend, and being as how this used to
be the United States of America , it would appear that the president has
the power to destroy private businesses and eliminate upwards of
100,000 jobs just because they don't agree with his political agenda.
This is Nazi Germany stuff, and it's happening right here, right now,
in our back yard.
There are voices in Washington demanding an explanation, but the
"Automotive Task Force" has released no information to the public or
to any of the senators demanding answers for what has been done.
Keep your ear to the ground for more on this story. If you've ever
wanted to make a difference about anything in your life, get on the
phone to your national senator or representative in the House and
demand an investigation into this.
Benjamin Franklin had it right when he said, "All that's necessary for
evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing."
Car Czar No More
An amazing thing happened as this story was going to press. Obama's
Car Czar, Steve Rattner, resigned on July 13 and was promptly replaced
by former steel workers union boss Ron Bloom.
According to CBS News, Rattner left "to return to private life and
spend time with his family."
Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner said, "I hope that he takes another
opportunity to bring his unique skills to government service in the
future."
By the way, Rattner is under investigation for a multi-million dollar
pay-to-play investment bank scandal in New York ....
Uh-oh!
But, we're certain that had nothing to do with his resignation.
And, according to several news sources out there, there are rumors
he's being investigated for what could be pay-to-play scandal
involving the closing of Chrysler and GM dealerships. Really? Again,
that couldn't have anything to with his resignation-that's ridiculous!
Like CBS said, this guy just wants to "spend more quality time with
his family."
Obama has 32 personally appointed "czars" who answer to no one but
him, all of whom are acting without any Constitutional authority.
But hey, we're sure they all have "unique skills,"......as Tim
Geithner likes to say!

Unions
There was a time Unions were needed & were important. Times have changed there is no NEED for Unions NOW..they are NOW outdated & have become morally wrong. ALL Unions should become illegal. Its a proven known fact IF you work for a union the job will take longer to complete cost 4 times as much for labor and not be of good quality. ie: Teachers Union
you are right.
unions have become the mirror of our government. The teamster union I am in right now and the co I work for has over the last two years extorted so much money from their workers and they have them so scared for there jobs that we just supposably voted for a third concession in two years. they are corrupt and it should be distoyed.
You have obviously never
Worked for a Union? They have the BEST-Trained people in ANY trade. However, the "big-bosses" have USED those workers, for huge profits, while "we the workers" are suffering from blown-out disks, tendinitis, and other joint injuries; and the Fat-Union_Contractors, are getting fatter at the bank! And by the minute! It WAS all Portugese, and now it is all Mexicans! Workers who will "settle-for-less!"
NO NEED FOR UNIONS

Unions
West Virginia is a good example of not having a right to work law...the UMWA is one BIG money taking bunch of over-bearing thugs and does nothing for it's dues...To hell with Unions and states without "right to work"laws.....AND teacher unions are the worst....no wonder the education is so bad in this country...Blame it on the unions and leadership like OBAMA.....
Poor Outcome
Now teaher's union that's a perfect example!! The next thing after 2010 to eliminate!!
I was an union employee at
I was an union employee at The City of Minneapolis and let me tell you you did NOT have a choice... you had to pay union dues no matter if you were a member or not, they call it fair share. This is a scam that needs to be investigated and it must stop. How the union got this into public employment with the City of Minneapolis I'm sure was a scam from the get go and many in the City and the Union both got huge under the table pay-offs! This is the same thing that is happening on a national level with Obammy boy and his crew of crooked czars and see how Obammy is appointing all these crooked Union officials to high up Gov't positions. Obammy needs to be impeached or better yet, charged, convicted and punished by firing squad for treason!
You got to love how "fair
You got to love how "fair and balanced" FOX is on the subject of unions. First, if the guys in the video are drinking a beer on their lunch break why didn't FOX show the company executives drinking their cocktails, charged to their company expense accounts, in the hotel lounges. Secondly if these guys are not on the clock why cant they have a beer? I have belonged to a union for the past 37 years and never has any of my union dues been used for a PAC. I do donate to a union PAC, of my own free will, that gives to candidates of both parties who support our legislative interests, just like the NRA and all of corporate America who have been attempting to drive American wages to Chinese levels. That is, for those of us whose jobs they can't send offshore. Just what America needs, a few more billionaires and millions of workers without benefits at the poverty level. You got to love it when the talking heads on FOX refer to unions as a special interest. The working people of this great country a special interest.

I was local 507
For 22 years. It was full of "illegal-aliens" of the Portugese persuasion. And now, it is "Illegal-aliens" of the Mexican persuasion. The Unions, like the Fed, WANTS illegals, because THEY don't have the Balls, to complain. And THAT....is what the "big-boys" want! Scabs are a dime a dozen. But "Illegal-aliens" are a dozen a dime!
Response to "You got to love how "fair"
FOX News does a great job of pointing out flaws in arguments like yours. For example, I don't know the policy for drug and alcohol use in all companies, but alcohol use at lunch on the company dime has been outlawed for decades. Substance use and abuse is spelled out clearly in any company with an employee manual.
Now, shall we guess why drinking beer and smoking dope out in the Chrysler parking lot is prohibited, especially at an auto plant? Shall we guess that these guys work around heavy machinery and could get injuried? And, do you think the consequences of this behavior is spelled out clearly in that employee manual? You are a union guy; what does your employee manual say?
Corporations are in business to make money by selling products and services. If unions weren't so corrupt and supported by this administration, the numbers would continue to dwindle, because you guys aren't competitive. Many people contend that it is the labor unions that are running this economy into the ground, not the Chinese.
Fairness and Unions
Unions exploit workers - they just don't know it.
Capitalism automatically creates a balance of income to skill and knowledge level. Unions skew this balance and therefore corrupt the system. After 4 years of a highly skilled tool and die apprentice program, someone with 1 day of training and installing fuel pumps on an assembly line was making 2X the money I was. Of course if you factor in the union dues he was making 1.5X my pay. What's wrong with this is the reward is going to those not deserving of it because of joining a mob that forces the business to pay more to prevent a shut down. If you are a union member with little talent then you think this is great, but over time the skewed pay system or corrupted capitalism causes what we are seeing now - companies that produce low quality and charge too much with the result of business failure and inability to compete. I agree that management in most cases is a good old boy system and pay scales are also skewed, but that is another subject.
When people think unions, they should think lowly skilled people being over paid causing corruption in our capitalistic system.
You won't get it or won't want to get it if you are in a union. The rest of us know unions must go, but now that they own the Obama government it will be a bigger threat to our economy.
Now look at all the auto workers out of work and unable to get a job because who in his right mind would pay what they were making for a low skill level. You and the unions did this to you and your buddies, but remember, they keep the union dues and spend tons of your money as political special interests. It is all about getting more members because it means more money and a diluted job market for you.
Special interests are simply parasites.
Quality?
Anyone in the trades knows, quality is what Union labor is all about. The only problem is, the Fat-Cats are only interested in PROFIT! And do not care....HOW they get it, or who from! "Its all about the dollar."
Fairness and Unions
My hometown is a suburb of Detroit. My father said that auto workers get 95% of their wages when they are laid off. It actually costs a union worker more to get up in the morning and put in a full days work.
This is a little known fact to the majority of people who are not in the automobile industry. Just thought I'd add that to your post about the negative impact of union jobs on our economy.

YouÂre a real deep thinker. Tanhks for sharing.
I went from
Ford Motor Company, to Jack Horton Dry Wall. Joined International Brotherhood of Painters and Tapers, Local 507. I worked a year out of Local 238 in Riverside. I PAID $3.50 per hour retirement money and now cannot get THAT money added to my pension, " because I was out of my "local?" How the F can that be? I thought "International" meant "all together?" Evidently not when it comes to getting your money back? I say F the "Orange-Belt painters and tapers! They OWE me big-time! $3.50 per hour for a YEAR? That's a lot of change dude! I intend to sue these guys if they don't pay. By the way, the company I was working for was named "Church and Larson." It figures there'd be a church in there somewhere!
Union Twit(ter)
Are you telling the American public that you can 100% guarantee absolutely not one penny of your dues for the past 37 years have gone into the coffers of a PAC? Are kidding? You really think you have any control where your dues get spent? What a moron you must be after 37 years. What onion, sorry, what union to you belong to? Unions nowadays are nothing but bureaucracies pushing progressive agendas and full of graft and corruption. Their main focus is to perpetuate themselves at the expense of their members driving up costs, pushing whole industries overseas or driving them off a cliff into ruin...like any self serving entity, (govenment)...unions are full of inefficient, lazy slackers only concerned about payoffs and squeezing the system for everything its got...Bunch of crooks. And this is coming from a former UAW union member (me). UNIONS SUCK BIG TIME! Thugs, all of them.
Working American
Working American's comments are straight and to the point. Unions have been under attack for years by "those in power" for fear of paying a living wage. And the Faux News puppets continue to repeat the lies and distortions--why would anyone listen to, let alone trust, Rupert Murdock or Roger Ailes and their collection of narrow-minded drones?
Not only is the Employee Free Choice Act in danger of not becoming law, but the minimum wage is under attack by gubernatorial and congressional candidates. Just how little do you want to pay for "a fair day's work"? Why are CEOs being paid more than 500-times what a worker is paid? And that doesn't include those multi-million dollar bonuses? And what about the Wall Street barons that are only paid for shuffling paper and "placing bets"? And why not fairly compensating workers that actually create or build something useful to Americans? And how many years do workers have to work before they can retire or collect Social Security?
We need to recognize that the guy or gal installing our cable line, serving us a nice meal, cleaning our hotel room, delivering our mail or packages, servicing or washing our car, selling us a ticket to a concert or mowing our grass all provide us with a tangible and valuable service and should be fairly compensated and not treated like servants and paid squat. Yes, we have a long way to go before wealth is fairly distributed, before benefits are equitable and before we can go to sleep at night feeling America is fair and just.
RE: Working American
So.. why exactly should the wealth be fairly distributed? The owners of the companies have put their blood, sweat, tears and own money into the firms, not union workers, who don't give a dang about the company, other than make sure that they get more money than they deserve. If they want to evenly or fairly distribute the wealth.. then have them invest THEIR OWN money in the companies...
reply to 'a long way to go before wealth is fairly distributed'
If only people who want equal wealth distribution would please move to a country that offers that! Why must they try to change us into something we're not? Can't they realize that this is AMERICA--different for a reason--that we believe in personable responsibility & MERIT, which is different than socialism in that it offers FREEDOM OF CHOICE. If people would only understand the difference and move to a country in line with their personal belief systems, our world would be a happier place. Myself, I would rather choose to do what I want in life and accept the pay that others decide is the market value of my services, vs. doing what the government tells me I should in order to receive the allowance that all workers in that society receive, regardless of whether they are a brain surgeon or a janitor at a fast food restaurant. In both situations, I am at the mercy of someone else's opinion of what I should receive for my labor, but at least in our Republic it is my decision whether to work or not, and what job I decide I can do. I also would rather my fellow citizens decide on the value of that work, rather than some bureaucratic paper-pusher in the government who will make sure I receive a pittance and they receive the ransom of a king. The entire system is different because it is based on the belief in GOD. Our nation was proudly founded on that belief and now NON-BELIEVERS want what we have created, but they want to change it to accommodate their atheistic views of fairness. It does not work that way. If they remove the foundation that all men are CREATED equal, (not all men should be given equal stuff by the govt) we cease to be America. So if they want something different, I pray they would please just pick the place and go there......and quit messing with the greatest country ever to grace the planet, this ONE nation UNDER GOD. Endowed BY OUR CREATOR with certain unalienable rights. The right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness! Our choices, no guarantees, minimum government.....just enough to protect those 3 basic rights. Again, if you need a babysitter to direct your every move and keep you from getting any boo boos, then you are simply not American! Find a country where you DO fit in, and trade your freedom for the sake of knowing what your future holds. Leave the rest of us- who enjoy the excitement of discovering the path for our own individual life -alone!

Al, a laborer and populist
Add uneducared idiot to his by-line. He indicates he is a union member, probably a union official. his pro union bias is evident and the things he favors are harmful to workers. The so called FREEDOM OF CHOICE ACT is UN-AMERICAN and smells of forcing labor contributions to corrupt unions. I had an uncle that was closely associated with the AFL-CIO president George Meaney so I am quite familiar with the dishonest, forceful actions taken by union goons who attacted and even killed workers that did not want to join unions. Examples of those crimes by union goons have been documented in Texas and Louisiana. Anybody that believes that unions are good for workers is living in a very strange bad dream world!

First, I'm sure Fox would have shown that video of lunch partying execs if they had access to that video. (you don't have it, do you?)Second, I agree. If the work is shoddy and takes longer to get'r done, might as well catch a buzz,eh? paid by the hour, heck if you don't do it right the first time, you might get it right the second or third time. but who's counting?
Private goverment services, privitization, or civil services?
The alternative to us is privatization. There is no decent alternative to having a civil service. There would be no separation between the private sector and government, without us.
So the Chamber of Commerce would become an advocate for privatization, and higher government pay outs for their clients, thus higher costing services to the tax payers. No competition for private government works if the civil servants, and their unions, can be crushed. On Wisconsin
What are we afraid of? We should know our place, and they know it too. They cannot run the State without us. All greatly prosperous societies have had excellent public civil services. When civil services are run down, so is society, and so is our State and Country.
