Kennedy: Having no election is "Simple and Fair"

Senator Ted Kennedy responds to the Wall Street Journal's recent piece that among other things, exposed the coercive nature of "card check" union organizing. He brands the process "simple and fair," but maybe he should watch the video below, which we posted a few weeks back. The only thing simple about such campaigns is how unfair to employees they are. Card check

Is this method of the union legal in the State of Virginia? This is how the IBEW got into where I work and there was nobody from the labor board present at the voting only union officials and nobody was present from the company HR department. Of course the union said they won the vote but they are the one's who counted the votes and I don't think they had 50 percent then or now that want the union there. They have done nothing but lie and cheat thier way in and even had the nerve to tell me that if I did not join the union I would be looking for a new job.
If its not legal how do I report this to the Virginia Labor Board?? Please help.

You STUPID RAT SCAB!!!!

You are either ignorant or stupid!! First of all the union is a good thing. More then likely the first thing thats going to happen to you is a pay raise. Dont have health care? Well you do now. NEWS FLASH!!!!! Your employer dosent care about you!!! If he could make you work for free he would. The union is a check and balance system to keep your employer honest. If you boss is honest then you wont even know the union is there. However if there is unfair work practices the union sides with you first. YOU CANT RELY ON YOUR EMPLOYERS GOOD NATURE!!!! You have to look out for your and your families best interest. Your boss wont do that because he's too busy looking out for his best interest. Do you enjoy labor laws? Labor day? Eight hour work days so you can actually see your family? Workmens comp. when you get hurt at work? Fire codes so buildings dont burn down and kill hundreds? THANK US!!! Get in an argument with your boss and see who wins. Your H.R. department is a Kangaroo court. The company always protects its best interest....ALL THE TIME!!! How would you like if someone got hired to your company that you've worked at for years and got a higher pay then you just because he knew someone you didnt?!! Thats garbage!!! A fair days wage for a fair days work!! Everyone makes the same amount of money, works the same amount of hours and profits equally!! Get your facts straight! You've been brain washed! Stop being a rat! Now go enjoy your eight hour work day and state mandated 30minute lunch and 15minute break that we've fought and died for.

No legitimate reason for getting rid of secret ballot elections.

There is no legitimate reason for getting rid of the secret ballot system. If people really want a union they are free to vote "yes" in the privacy of their own home and mail the ballot back in. If I’m an employee that wants the union, I can lie to my boss and tell him I’m voting “no” and then really vote “yes” on the secret ballot. Then again, if I’m opposed to the union, I can lie to the union organizers and my pro-union coworkers and tell them I’m voting “yes” and then vote “no” on the secret ballot. It’s the fact that people can pretend to support the organizing campaign to avoid harassment and intimidation by union thugs that makes the socialists so angry. In their mind they believe workers have a right to be in a union, but that they don’t have a right to not be in a union, and they don’t have a right to vote “no” in an organizing campaign. The socialists think that those of us who have voted “no” in a secret ballot union election are either stupid, selfish, or a cowardly. Well I am none of those three and I did vote “no” on my secret ballot last year along with 87 of my coworkers while only 12 voted “yes.” The big labor socialists just can’t accept the fact that most people don’t want unions and aren't willing to pay dues.

So anyone who doesn't want a union is stupid, meaning that people can't think for themselves. Maybe he is just mad that people are SMART ENOUGH that they don't want to pay union dues. Hey if union dues aren't being deducted from the employees paychecks, then they have more take-home pay. In many non-union companies rank and file employees get the same health/dental plan that management and ownership gets.

He also said:
"Do you enjoy labor laws? Labor day? Eight hour work days so you can actually see your family? Workmens comp. when you get hurt at work? Fire codes so buildings dont burn down and kill hundreds? THANK US!!!"

So because unions in an earlier time influenced the passage of the labor and safety laws that we have today, we have the obligation to join a union and pay dues?

My favorite statement is this one:

"How would you like if someone got hired to your company that you've worked at for years and got a higher pay then you just because he knew someone you didnt?!! Thats garbage!!!"

Usually when management passes over a long-tenured employee for a promotion and instead gives the promotion to a more recent hire its because the long-tenured person is a lazy, whiny loser and the newer person is more deserving of the promotion. If the lazy bum doesn't like getting passed over he has two options: either work harder and be prepared for the next promotion opportunity or go work somewhere else.

Some questions: If having a

Some questions: If having a union is so desirable, why do you resort to threats and intimidation to get people to join? Wouldn't the union win in a secret ballot election?

Unions have served a purpose and may in the future. But not until they change, too.

Reply to "You STUPID RAT SCAB!!!"

Your name calling and the accusation that because I don't want a union to represent me I've been "brainwashed" are typical of the intimidating tactics used by union members to pressure me into signing up. And to suggest that I am ignorant or stupid because I don't want to join your party is narrowminded and biased. Of course what can I expect from someone who's swallowed the party line, hook and sinker. Your diatribe and tactics are more suited to back alley brawls than the workplace. Sure, there was a time when it took unions to change the course of labor laws throughout the world, but when a union prevents me from getting training that would improve my work life because I would be "working out of my job classification" or when a coworker gets the same pay and raises I get even though I work circles around her just because she's a member of "the party", then unions have become a detriment to free thinkers, to free workers, and to the workforce they claim to protect. You don't protect me and your ideas are outdated. You're a dinosauer and thank God there are places in this country where people can work without fear of your brand of name-calling thugs and heavies who would prefer to bend us all to their will.
