corruption within Seafarers International Union
Seafarers continue to trash my life and go unchecked despite my complaints to the NLRB,OLMS,OIG,and the FBI.Most effective method to keep them at bay is direct allegations of racketeering by certified mail to Mike Sacco and union attorney. After 23 years, their blacklisting tactics are taking a toll on my lively hood. I got about 100 days work in 2010 and paid about $ 800.00 on dues, that's about a dollar an hour.I Resist donations to political and legal funds. They bust me out of pension credits and insurance almost every year. How can I pay $ 300.00 for physical/drug screen,$500.00 dues, 5% of gross wages in additional working dues, other assessments and sit in union hall waiting for scraps on some low ball, low pay sweetheart contract, deferring 10 days pay into a vacation plan, all for about three months work. I seek land based employment in 2011. Most of my past work was on Government ships,so why should a corrupt union be allowed to control employment on board public vessels (Marad). They fired our secretary after 22 years to bust her out of medial benefits, hired a big gun attorney @ $500.00 hr while she searched for attorney to take her case on contingency basis. Many sailors fall each year to their corruption, most drift away in silence. I continue to rail on them with great joy and sleep good every night, cause it's the right thing to do. Thanks for allowing this statement against my corrupt union and their gulag style policies. Lowell R. Lemm Book # L-1354
